We’re delighted to announce a new addition to our facilities here at The Old Coach House — a purpose-built secure cycle store, designed especially for guests planning cycling holidays in Somerset.

Over the years we’ve welcomed a handful of cyclists, from relaxed leisure riders to serious road cyclists, all keen to explore the beautiful lanes around the Mendip Hills, the Somerset Levels, and the nearby Strawberry Line. One thing we kept hearing was how important safe bike storage and proper facilities are when travelling with good bikes — especially E-bikes.

So we decided to create something bespoke.

Our newly converted cycle store is stone-built, insulated, fully lockable, and located just beside the cottage but safely out of sight of the road, giving guests complete peace of mind during their stay.

Inside, cyclists will find power for E-bike charging and space for several bikes, whilst outside there's easy access for loading and unloading.

We’ve also added bike washing equipment, a basic toolkit, and a maintenance stand for those small adjustments that always seem to be needed at the end of the day.

Back inside the cottage, there’s a utility room with a washing machine for muddy kit, plenty of Ordnance Survey maps to help plan the next route, and a bath with plenty of hot water that’s perfect for easing achy muscles after a day in the saddle.

Our location near Wells in Somerset makes an ideal base for a cycling break, with quiet country lanes, classic Somerset climbs, traffic-free paths, and welcoming cafés all within easy reach.

Whether you’re planning a weekend ride, a longer touring holiday, or simply want a peaceful countryside stay with excellent cycling on the doorstep, we’re now fully set up to make your visit comfortable, secure, and relaxing.
